Finally, skilled tradespeople have a real opportunity to immigrate to Canada! On Canada’s most recent round of invitations to Express Entry applicants under the skilled trades stream, they issued 400 invitations to tradespeople with a minimum of only 199 points—less than half the minimum score for other applicants. This is a terrific development for skilled tradespeople worldwide looking to enter into Canada’s booming market.
Previously, it was sometimes prohibitively difficult for skilled tradespeople to enter Canada through the Express Entry program, as they may not have had the same education credentials or language skills as other applicants. As the pass mark has been dramatically lowered for skilled tradespeople, Canada is signalling a commitment to extending permanent residence to the skilled workers who make the Canadian economy so robust.
