IRCC: Six New Pathways To Canada Permanent Residence

IRCC Announces Six New Pathways to Permanent Residence.

You might be eligible to apply for Permanent Residence on May 6, 2021.

On April 14, 2021, IRCC announced six new pathways to Canadian permanent residence for certain classes of people who are already working in Canada. People who might qualify for one of these pathways need to act quickly. IRCC will start accepting applications for permanent residence under this program on May 6, 2021. Some streams have caps on the number of applications that will be accepted. The application window for all streams will close by November 5, 2021.

Three of the pathways are open to people with English language ability and include:

  1. Recent graduates (no earlier than January 2017) from an eligible program of study at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or
  2. People with one year of full-time Canadian work experience (or part-time equivalent) in an eligible health-related occupation, and
  3. People with one year of full-time Canadian work experience (or part-time equivalent) in other eligible essential occupations.

The same pathways exist for people with French language ability, and those streams are not subject to application caps.

There are a number of additional eligibility requirements including place of residence, employment status, language ability, current immigration status and general admissibility requirements. Eligible applicants may be able to include eligible family members in their application for permanent residence.
